If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you know that I have moved from Easton, Pennsylvania, to Newport, Vermont. We may not be as close to New York City or Philadelphia, but that’s okay. We very much prefer a rural, natural, and quiet environment.

Today I’m going to show you my recording studio. It used to be a garage/barn that’s about fifteen steps from the house I live in, on a five acre property. We’re surrounded by rolling hills, farms, and woodlands. The maple trees in our backyard are all connected by tap lines to harvest the sap that’s turned into maple syrup.

Here’s a short slide show of the conversion from barn to studio. It took my contractors less than a week to complete the job.

As you could see, there was no double or triple wall installation to soundproof the space. That may seem strange, until you experience the quietude of my natural surroundings. Even though we live about ten minutes away from a supermarket and a post office, we are isolated enough and far enough from our neighbors that there was no need to soundproof the studio. If it ain’t broke…
